About Me
Irena Adams studied art in her native Prague, specializing in textiles. As a textile artist, she collaborated with leading Danish architects on major public art projects. She continued her studies in Belfast, gaining BA (1st class Hons) in Fine Art Printmaking. Her wide-ranging interests led her to producing award-nominated theatre and costume designs.
Painting and printmaking remains her major interest. She develops her well-observed work with strong sense of colour and composition, often extending her imagery into abstracted, multilayered, mixed media expression.
She has exhibited in the UK and internationally and her work is held in a number of public and private collections. She was awarded the NI Art Council’s prestigious Travel Award to USA and she is a winner of the Guinness Fine Art Prize.
